I'm pretty sure it means cutting the total expected deaths with no mitigation by 2-4%. So, a much larger number than 600. But it's also not clear to me that with many mitigation efforts in place, that removing one of them would cause the deaths to rise by the same percentage.

Yes, but everyone's talking as if it's like 60,000. And as if it's all kids. Most of those 600 wouldn't be kids. Again, I'm not advocating opening schools. I'm advocating calm, clear rational thought (yes, even on Twitter).

According to Chinese Stats no children under the age of 9 died in the epidemic there and the death rate of those under the age of 19 was 0.01. As far as I can see a handful of people under the age of 19 have died in the US from COVID of the 20,000 plus who have died.
