    Jeet Heer Retweeted Justin Wolfers

Big business literally wants to socialize the costs of prematurely ending the lockdown (i.e. not be liable for making employees work in an unsafe environment) and to continue to collect the profits from this. It's as pure an exploitive agenda as one could want.https://twitter.com/JustinWolfers/status/1250594643907051520 …

The whole point of making employers liable for risking the lives of their staff is to prevent them from exposing their staff to undue risk. Businesses are asking for the right to expose their workers to fatal risks with no consequences. It’s bad economics and bad policy. pic.twitter.com/YX5zGJZ8xX

It's not businesses that keep us fed, it's the labor of the working class.

People will literally die. Everyone knows it. But the rent needs to be paid, along with the grocery bill and light bill. So, owners will make all workers risk death (and some actually die) to make just enough money to sustain life (if they live).

I bet every single one of those companies will mark their reopening with a statement along the lines of “the health and safety of our associates is our first priority.”

Not "socialize costs," just not have all costs dumped on them. Unsafe environment or not, workers will desperately to work at some pt. in next 18 mo. You're like people opposed to bailouts because business should've prepared. This isn't anyone's fault.
