Thanks, Seth. Obviously, I'd strike the third word, "not," if I were revising it now.https://twitter.com/SethCotlar/status/1249233266365743106 …

Separately, I think that Teddy White was quite influential with his 1960 book and think he is responsible for the cycle of never ending campaigns. How much did he influence the genre of campaign chronicles in your opinion

To me, the most interesting and influential thing about Teddy White was his power-worship. When Nixon was losing he was an embarrassment; when he won, he was a sage. Serving as Jackie Kennedy's helpmeet as her vector for inventing the "Camelot" myth.

Interesting and thank you. He certainly had a man crush on JFK in the 1960 book. He was not openly hostile to Nixon in that but he certainly favored JFK. Interesting point from that book is the what if HHH quit after Wisconsin. JFK couldnt have then slain anti RC dragon in WVA

Great book on Theodore White as a pioneer of 's the worst excesses of access journalism. Making 1972 is a travesty, fluffing RN as a Solomonic hero, with Watergate chapter tacked on end that he had to delay publication to compose.https://www.amazon.com/Theodore-H-White-Journalism-Illusion/dp/0826210104/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=theodore+white+and+journalism+as+illusion&qid=1586708425&sr=8-1 …

Richard Hofstadter's widow would go to marry White, tying everything together nicely!
