The insights about black political identity and the Democratic Party are important, but the reality is that by the end of things, several candidates with tight Democratic Party affiliations were polling behind not only Bernie Sanders but also Michael Bloomberg with black voters. https://twitter.com/mattyglesias/status/1248643219484794880 …

A lot of this makes sense if you realize that the prime concern was electability and Dem voters decided (wrongly) that women weren't electable.

Something to think about when Bernie or Busters say they want to send an extremely specific and unequivocal message that couldn't possibly be misinterpreted after the fact

the unintended consequence of the "Bernie did nothing wrong and only lost because the establishment opposed him" argument. if this is true, then the only rational conclusion is to give up, and stop wasting energy supporting lefty candidates. I don't *think* that's what they mean?

bc the dems were so unwilling to own up to their 2016 failure that they told everyone misogyny was an insurmountable cosmic force in the electorate

Electability-centered elections hurt everyone but mainstream moderate white men, which is why they’re so insidious. They’ve also arguably cost Dems multiple presidential elections.

For most Democratic voters, "electability" literally just means proximity to Barack Obama. Men who couldn't make that case had literally the exact same outcome as women. But go off Jeet.

Problem with Dems is that they are used rosy memories about Obama and his presidency to push Biden to be the nominee. Ppl in the Dem camp think Biden is Obama. They don’t know how wrong they are.
