      1. This is a joke but not far from the truth. Trump is going to use China as a wedge issue against Biden. Democrats need to prepare and there are some tricky nuances.https://twitter.com/AryehCW/status/1247953218048532480 …

      2. China is a useful wedge for Trump. It plays to his existing America First politics of xenophobia and protectionism. Biden is in fact a supporter of trade agreements that make him vulnerable among crucial voters in the midwest. Hunter Biden's business ties to China don't help

      3. There's a policy nuance that needs to be addressed: while decoupling from China has genuine appeal to constituencies on both right & left, it's not something that can be done during pandemic. Only China has the productive capacity to make crucial medical supplies.

          4. The needle that Biden will have to thread is incorporating Sanders critique of existing trade agreements and also showing dangers of Trump's nativist approach while answering corruption accusations. Will require real political agility

          5. China's one of many issues where Biden can benefit from really adopting Sanders' stance and leveraging Sanders' endorsement. More thoughts here:https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/china-wedge-issue-trump/ …

I do hope we rethink our strategic needs and bring the manufacture of those strategic items back to the US.

Not right now, no. Maybe in a few months but right now most of the supplies needed are coming from China.

It’s a wedge issue. A Lie. His corporate masters all have wood for a giant customer base in China. Why do our political discussions always stay at least one step removed from looking at the actual levers of power & money? Because We The People might learn they have zero power? 😔

We can “de-couple” all we want but no other country combines the same levels of high tech capability & cheap labor. USA Crapitalism requires labor to be as close to zero cost as possible to ensure profits. “These jobs are going, boys. And they ain't coming back.” Hometown by BS
