Maybe rejection of Bernie by Democratic primary voters wasn't primarily about *ideology*. "Older Dem voters, especially older *black* voters, are more risk averse than younger ones," is I think pretty obviously the correct take.

Older Dems didn't reject Bernie because they hate his policies. They rejected Bernie because they were convinced Biden was more likely to beat Trump.

Given your whole thread, where was the surge in youth vote for Bernie? If his theory of electorate was correct and he could pull a swath of untapped voters, where are they at?

As a proportion, exit polling showed Bernie pulling huge numbers of the 40 and under crowd. The problem was that those 55 and older were voting Biden at about a 2:1 margin and that bloc came turned out in even BIGGER numbers than previous primaries.

That feels overly simple. Social realities inform ideology, sure, but adopted academic ideology can also become the dialectic used to interpret our perception of social reality. Or did I miss the point of this tweet entirely?
