Does it surprise anyone else that Andrew Cuomo isn’t catching more blame for where New York is?

The odd thing is that I feel like the actual NY state media who have been covering him for years don't really like him, but the national media doesn't know him as well, so when they started picking up his news conferences they liked his tone and just went with it.

100% this. I can't wait until 2022, when the rest of America is trying to figure out why he lost his bid for a 4th term, and New Yorkers are just shrugging and saying "we told you he sucks".

Good Lord. I'd like to hear what Jay Inslee has to say about it in private. I'm sure it would involve a lot of 4 letter words...

Being sandwiched between Trump and de Blasio couldn’t hurt.

DeBlasio seemed to be trying to move things more quickly and Cuomo wouldn't let him. It's all messed up.

it's a rally round the flag effect. they tend to dissipate kind of quickly. next time he faces election I don't know that his handling of this is going to be a bonus for him.

No doubt Inslee and Newsom did better. But Cuomo is leading the state at the epicenter of the crisis, and he is *amazing* compared to Trump, which really explains everything about his newfound popularity.

This has been my observation, but I'm also on the west coast... Plus, I really want someone to be doing something for NY, so I will hope that he will pull them through this.
