I'm never happy about these little flare ups, but lol at your embedded assumption that people tweeting about the pandemic instead would make anyone's life a scintilla of a fraction of a shit better.

Not saying people should be tweeting about the pandemic instead. Saying they should be doing anything else -- watching old Preston Sturges movies, reading to their kids, cooking, learning Estonian -- rather than Chapo discourse.

In your vast experience with online, Jeet, do you really think that's how this works?

Yeah, in the time I spent not tweeting about Chapo & Bernie Bros. last year I managed to find time to read Dance to the Music of Time (12 volumes), Book of the New Sun (4 volumes), 100 kids books (with my daughters), and watch all of Preston Sturges and Val Lewton.

I feel like you're missing the point of the original tweet. You should ponder where most of the Chapo discourse online comes from and what purpose it serves.

Most of these are pretty mild jokes -- only the most thin skinned could take offense. They aren't really Chapo discourse in the proper sense (i.e. discourse that posits the existence of "Bernie Bros" who the bulk of Sanders supporters).
