It's sad that we can't marshall our resources better. South Korea has these large family businesses (Samsung, Daewoo, etc) known as chaebols who seem to be more responsive. Perhaps ironically, our rush to break up monopolies hurt us.

The move by 3M to place their manufacturing in china to save 3 pennies per N95 mask hurt us. The move away from protected union labor hurts us. Putting the "In God We Trust" CEOs in charge hurt us.
