The central issue was Trump's using the office of the presidency to dispense favors for political gain. It remains a problem -- i.e. his treating governors better if they kiss his ass.

Trump's incompetence and malevolence is going to lead to tens of thousands of people dying unnecessarily but you're maintaining your anti-anti-Trump stance. Please keep doing it.

What you've decried for years as an "anti-anti-Trump stance" was always a pro-reason, anti-hysteria stance. This obligated me to denounce Russiagate and impeachment, both of which you feverishly promoted and ended in disastrous failure. Notice I'm not "anti-anti-Trump" re: corona

I’ve followed both of you for some time (and respect both), but it always strikes me (sorry Jeet) that Michael is correct in these arguments you two have. It’s worth really listening to him.

Michael's core position going back to 2016 was that there was no sufficient reason to vote for Hillary Clinton rather than Donald Trump. In the light of Trump's handling of the pandemic, do you agree?

Hilary is awful in terms of numerous policies, etc., but no I would not agree with that position of Michael’s (if it’s being characterized accurately). Nevertheless, time and again Michael has acute and perceptive positions on matters where others are locked into “tribal” biases.

Every discussion with Jeet somehow ends up with a re-litigation of the 2016 election and his passionate support for Hillary Clinton.

I don't think you have to be a passionate supporter of Hillary Clinton to think that for all her faults she'd have been better than Donald Trump. Your refusal to acknowledge that Trump is worse speaks, I think, to a fundamental flaw in your worldview.

Even if I had joined you in passionately supporting Hillary Clinton, it would have had no bearing at all on the Russiagate and impeachment issues. You've spent four years bringing up Hillary/2016 as a non sequitur diversion tactic.

It does have a bearing because your dismissal of Russia investigation and impeachment derives from the same premise, that Trump is not markedly worse or more dangerous than typical USA politician.

Again, I strongly encourage you to continue defending Russiagate and impeachment. I'm sure it will look increasingly prudent in hindsight. Joe Biden thanks you for the help.

1)right on, and I have never understood @mtracey's failure to see this. Tracey is correct that the CIA/deep state (to use a term that I think is valid tho has become loaded) wants to protect itself, has its own agenda, wants to undermine Trump, @ggreenwald rightly says this too.

2)at same time Trump is unlike any other US Pres. and undermines every institution, breaks every standard and convention that allows our democracy to function. We are wrong to blindly side w/ CIA, but also wrong to pretend Trump is one of many. Trump's sins are matters of degree:

          3) it is true that every politician has done some element of Trump's offences to some extent, that's what makes this so difficult. But Trump's huge excess and blatant acts change his wrongs to a difference in kind, not just quantity. Even the lies, for inst.Every politician lies,
