If you got any chuff from me it’s because you came in guns blazing, with some “Bernie and his magic wand” and some all caps noise. And if that chuff bothered you, I apologize.

Regards Berners: electoralism is not all there is. Without a candidate standing on good policy, some will decide to put their energy towards other projects: mutual aid, organizing labor etc. Arguably these have more impact than singular votes. Already seeing this with strikes now

It may work, who knows. But perhaps you can understand why it grates when you preemptively blame Berners for not supporting a candidate you know doesn’t appeal to them. Also I worry that democrats are losing youth and latinx voters in this deal

Vigorous primaries make for stronger candidates. Clinton and Obama had a very vigorous primary. It's a delusion that ignoring arguments against Biden now will make sure they are not aired in the general election. Your position is anti-political.

As an Obama 2008 veteran, we ended up being glad Clinton took the primary to June. It caused us to have existing organizing structure in all 50 states for the general election. It was a boon for local parties' ability to ID voters, who had never seen that kind of primary volume.

Further, given Covid, a continued primary will almost certainly force states to figure out vote by mail. And every democrat interested in winning elections should be pushing for vote by mail.

long, drawn-out, unnecessary primaries harm the nominee and suck resources better used in the general election. try and squeeze past bernie's enlarged prostate and get a whiff of reality.

Bernie Sanders should suspend his 2020 presidential campaign and help Biden beat Trump, writes @nberlat. Sanders' stated goal was not a personal victory but a better world for everyone. And by dropping out, he can help the left to win next time. https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/bernie-sanders-should-suspend-his-2020-presidential-campaign-help-biden-ncna1163481 …

It’s anti-political to say that Bernie is not helping Biden by doing this? Seems like some mental gymnastics to me to say an unnecessarily fractured party (because Bernie is an influential no hoper now) is preferable to solidarity as soon as possible.

Why are so many on the Bernie left complaining about Tlaib having a primary challenger then? And honestly, given the context of the 2008 election, a 7 pt victory seems pretty small. Just because Obama won doesn't mean the drawn out primary helped him.

Then why the effort to get Warren to drop out? She was making Bernie stronger! Also, some attacks work better when you can use the target's own side against them. If Trump can use Bernie's words against Biden, it's more effective than directly attacking him. "Even Bernie says…"
