Random twitter shitposters have been proposing a sensible plan of universal cash payments, rent/mortgage freezes, etc for weeks. That the ideological straightjacket of those in charge precludes these steps but allows for the sacrifice of millions of American lives is horrifying

It seems obvious to me the best balanced Covid19 solution is to shut down until we flatten the curve (2 months?), then go back to open society with aggressive test, trace and quarantine, except high risk citizens (elderly and immunosuppressed) who stay on lockdown until vaccine.
