Okay I read about 1/3 of the way through that tech dude’s medium essay on COVID-19, getting picked up by Foxers.I stopped when I got to the part where he doesn’t understand what “community spread” means. He thinks is means long distance aerosol contagion. That’s not what it means.

3/ most of the stuff in there isn’t conspiracy theory stuff. It’s discussing mostly real things but not really understanding their implications. In other cases it’s just clear someone who a) knows nothing about the topic and b) hasn’t done the homework and is speaking with ...

5/ The part about aerosol spread (basically the virus hanging in the air for some period of time) is a real question. Just because it can be detected in the air doesn’t mean it is a viable mode of transmission. It’s uncertain. The fact that it can be detected means it cannot ...

6/ yet be ruled out. And there is some limited evidence of this being a mode of spread, though likely not the most common. But you see by the way the guy talks and tosses about cocky nonsense points that he’s full of shit and has extreme confidence in his command of ...

There definitely been a surge -- or maybe epidemic -- of right-wing arguments that the best response is to let coronavirus run wild. WSJ had an editorial hinting at this earlier this week. Something bad is afoot.

As a Swede living in the US I'm aghast. Swedish health authorities: 1. No risk of any import cases; 2. Zero risk of community transmission (early March); 3. OK, but not more than .1% infected, like in Hubei; 4. Only the elderly get severely ill; 1/3 in ICU < 50? Selection bias.

It is a strange part of the id. Like that CNBC analyst who just blurted out that we should kill everyone as quickly as possible to protect the markets. Something very Ayn Randian about it all. An involuntary reflex.

It greases the skids for a far too early "return toward normalcy" by large scale GOP advocates who are losing too much money.

I presume it’s just a matter of time before the message becomes a thinly-disguised version of “the virus is mostly going to kill poor people and minorities so it’s no biggie.”
