I think it's reasonable to wonder whether a deep economic downturn with an extremely visible cause that people (may) think was beyond the president's control *might* have different electoral effects than a more typical recession. Really hard to know.

I continue to think the outparty candidate, arguments, etc. are just not all that important, and in fact even less important under these circumstances.

The government’s response has been awful. But I don’t have the luxury of being angry about that. I have no interest in party politics. I have a family to get through this. That’s where all my emotional energy is.
