1. I think it's good to think about necessary pandemic sacrifices in terms of the social contract -- which means some restitution is in order. School closures are absolutely necessary. But the burden for the closure falls on the young & poor.

3. Compensation can take multiple forms: money for lost breakfast & lunch programs, money for childcare, money for connectivity & homeschooling (books). Money or lost income from parents having to stay at home. This is money they owed. They are sacrificing.

This too simple. There are older people staffing schools. Grandparents who tend children when they are out of school. Ppl in nursing homes will suffer from lack of visits from family, who will also suffer.
