This whole thread is dead vague. But it's a very large plus to be able to turn to experienced people for cabinet positions--something Bernie wouldn't be able to do unless he swallowed his pride and appointed experienced Democrats. Trump went with rookies. How'd that work out?

The current long emergency engulfing the world did not arise ex nihilo. It is the logical endpoint of chains of decisions made by previous administrations and congresses. In other words, the "experienced people" are the ones who got us into this crisis.

As a basically left-center guy who would love normality, I basically agree with you. The problem with normality is that you won't hold power forever and there's going to be something worse than Trump next time. You need to leave something more resilient that they can't wreck.
