I really loved the Greta Gerwig adaptation of Little Women (not least because our three daughters basically have the same sororal dynamic as the 4 March sisters). Haven't seen the movie yet. Liked the 1994 version so much was afraid of reacting as the Jacobin reviewer did. To reduce LW to a story of climbing the ladder of success--a sad comedown from the capacious idealism of New England transcendentalism from which Alcott sprang.
