      1. Warren and Sanders have taken very different tacks to getting the party establishment to accept a shift to the economic left. Warren took a conciliatory approach of emphasizing unity, Sanders to more explicitly challenge. Both attempts met with resistance.https://twitter.com/NateSilver538/status/1235654273129578496 …

In retrospect, the resistance Warren faced in October/November once she came to be perceived as a frontrunner should have been a bigger warning sign for the resistance Sanders would face once he came to be seen as the frontrunner.

      2. Warren's unity gambit didn't make her any more acceptable -- she was undercut by party elders (including Obama & Clinton) for being too far left. But the problem was it was made too soon -- before racking up victories.

          3. Sanders by contrast ended up alienating people he needed to win. He's now shifted more in Warren's direction with nods to party unity. Some more thoughts on this here:https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/warren-sanders-democrat-unity/ …

She was undercut mainly by supposed allies (The Squad) who prefered to throw their lot with a 78-year old guy who just had a heart attack.

Why would you expect people deeply invested in Bernie’s movement to endorse anyone else?

Good point and a very big deal in retrospect. The party didn't coalesce around her when she was on the rise. Instead they started a panicked tap dance among Pete, Joe, Amy, etc., none of whom had anything like Warren's upward trajectory. They had a winner and didn't want her.

Sanders should have never run. Warren would have coalesced the left support and brought the Party together. If you cared about Progressivism -and not destroying the Democratic Party, that should have been the strategy. Oh well.

She was also massively undercut by Sanders. He demanded that Democratic voters pick sides, and they did! It’s impossible to negotiate a peace deal when one side wants to go to war.
