Interesting idea from @brianbeutler here: One reason young voters dislike Joe Biden is that he refuses to accept the full unvarnished reality of the modern GOP and the threat it poses to their future:https://crooked.com/articles/biden-trump-coronavirus/ …

It's also possible that he fully does recognize it, but doesn't think pointing it out is a pathway to getting elected.

Also, depends on what your cutoff for young is. All I've known my entire life is either: 1. Republican Control or 2. Republican Hostage Taking I'm in my mid 30s. Its not my *only* reason for rejecting Biden, but jeez, this isn't the West Wing either.

I’m 42 & in total agreement with you. I remember Willy Horton & the 90’s all too well.

Definitely, and "modern" is doing a lot of work here. Biden has had 40 years to come to terms with what the GOP represent.

Ehhh... look I’m a guy who didn’t vote for Joe (votes Pete) and back him now strongly, and while I kind of agree with this sentiment, I think it’s offset strongly by the fact that he seems like he can win. I mean he’s done really well recently.

Winning and getting Trump out of power is more important to me right now than having someone with less of a chance of winning but says the right things against the GOP.

Alternatively, he understands how the modern GOP is different, but doesn't think that saying what pleases die-hard Democrats will help him get elected. I would like to think that's true.
