I really sense that the centrists supporting Biden think they can crush the left and still unify the party and the left thinks it can tell the “official party” to fuck off because Bernie can win without total institutional support. Two versions of militant sentimentality.

That’s fine. But it’s also important to understand that reason a barometric Dem like Biden moved to the left is precisely because the left pushed him and the rest of the party that way. Without Occupy thru Bernie and that doesn’t happen.

True. But even then it's really not quite on the mark. Biden's a party consensus establishment liberal. Center-left. Whatever you wanna call it. Yes, he's moved. But same token, one can only call him a 'moderate' because the old senate mods are all gone.

Right, but the point is not only that he moved. They all moved. The non M4All programs are all to the left of the plan in ‘09. Bernie and the left get credit for all of this.

That’s all of saying. Part of liberals reconciling with the left is to acknowledge that.

I agree. Whether it's Sanders or Biden the winning side needs to craft a story the other faction can be part of. Needs to be both true and work.

Part of my anxiety is that I think the one candidate who is best positioned to craft a unity message to bring both sides in (Warren) has almost no shot at the nomination.

Warren is the number 2 pick of Sanders supporters. There are polls!

In 2016, 74% of Sanders voters voted for Clinton. (I was one, but I don't think of myself as a "Bernie Bro.") It's the voters who stayed home who hurt her. https://www.commondreams.org/views/2020/01/23/end-blame-game-sanders-and-his-supporters-helped-hillary-win-popular-vote-2016 …
