I’m agnostic on this as well, but I am not sure there is evidence to show that was the cause of demobilization

And Jeet, stipulate you’re right: what could **Joe Biden** do as a presidential candidate that would, in fact, mobilize the demobilized? Not Obama, not Bernie, not AOC. But Biden. He can’t pull that off. Win or lose, this is his best play. Mensch v monster.

Agree it's the best, by far, argument Biden has. Just not sure it's enough.

Now that you might well be right about that. But I think it’s pretty much that everybody has motivated reasoning here depending on which candidate they support. I can theorize either or both Biden or Bernie winning. But I can also theorize either or both of them losing.

I’m just at the winning stage. Sure I can totally imagine him winning. He’s a generic Dem and a generic Dem can win vs a 44% prez. It’s weird to me that centrist Dems think Bernie is doomed and Bernie supporters think Biden is doomed. It’s pure motivated reasoning both ways.

He lost by 2% to her with the help of Comey. And he’s now been a disgusting and terrible President—it’s no longer, “Hey let’s roll the dice”—and is running in the red for his entire term. A lot of Dems could beat him. Or lose.

Sure, but that’s only telling me why any Dem might lose. But that doesn’t tell me that a particular candidate is **certain** to lose.

To be clear: I'm not saying Biden is certain to lose. He could very well win against Trump (as could, I think, several other Dems). My worry is that his campaign will be focused on themes which, as we've seen before, led to an electoral vote defeat.

It's a different, very different time now. I think it would work, and perhaps you haven't taken into account legions of disaffected liberals who have turned away from the party and would happily return under this banner with Trump as the alternative.

Goodluck with that banner in Key swing states that trump won like Michigan, Wisconsin, & Ohio.
