Chapo is not the "Tea Party of the Left." It's the Rush Limbaugh of the Left.https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/29/us/politics/bernie-sanders-chapo-trap-house.html …

It can’t be just as a matter of weighted cultural/political influence. Not even remotely close. There’s no media “influencer” on the New New Left (post Occupy thru Sanders/AOC) that has anything like that kind of national resonance.

You’ll never see a Democratic president who awards the Chapo guys the Medal of Freedom!

Right, that’s another way to put it. It’s probable Bernie has never heard of them, and certainly has never actually heard them. By contrast, there is no major con politician who doesn’t know Rush’s work well and, for decades, he has had the very top national polls on his show.

Limbaugh has a weekly audience that is roughly 100 times larger than Chapo (15 million versus 150 K). More when Limbaugh was at his peak.

Yes, exactly so. There just isn’t a parallel on the left and there never has been. Maybe someday there will be such a parallel, but we are just not there. It was hard enough for the CIO at its peak in the late 1940s to buy radio air time for then nationally known union leaders.
