cons/centrists use this strategy of manufacturing outrage over fringe leftist movements & portraying them as if they represent the entire left. that's essentially what the hysteria around chapo is about & same strategy has been used against college students for the past few yrs

Was Frum's analogy based on their similar real world impact, or are you dunking on something he never said? Obviously Limbaugh has had more impact - he has a bigger audience and has had decades longer to work with. Does that make him useless as a comparator of style?

It makes a huge difference if the style is aimed at a mass audience or a niche one. It's like saying Hugh Hefner and a guy who runs a local strip club have a similar stye. Complaining about one is cultural criticism, complaining about the other shows misplaced priorities.
