1. Since Russian stuff is likely to keep coming up can we get some perspective on it? As best we know, Russian gov't invested in troll farms in 2016 & now - these had (to extent it can be measured) a negligible impact. The problem is Trump's response https://www.cnn.com/2020/02/23/politics/intelligence-briefer-russian-interference-trump-sanders/index.html …

3. It's Trump's reaction to Russia story that has made it problem -- his refusal to simply say (as Sanders did) that Putin is a thug & should stop it. That remains the enduring mystery of all this. We don't need to impute super-villain powers to Putin to see that.

Exactly. The reason the Russian activity in 2016 was bad vis a vis Trump is because he condoned it and welcomed it and solicited it. Otherwise it was just Russia doing typically shitty Russian stuff which we should respond to out of principle but isn’t especially impactful.

There is zero evidence that the Russian government interfered in the 2016 election. Instead, a private venture in Russia was sending memes as part of a advertising venture. There is zero evidence that there has been or will be any Russian government interference in 2020.

They would still do it without his blessing. He's helped them muddy the waters for sure but he's not the only flunky who would have done that for them.
