It's bringing up Gone With the Wind that raises this from simple xenophobic ignorance to real dada racism.https://twitter.com/rebeccaballhaus/status/1230654236934864896 …

If he had a slight bit of wit, he'd have named Citizen Kane instead. Same era (1941), didn't already get the Oscar (many say it should have done), and can be seen as an attack on Bloomberg (or even, self-deprecatingly, on himself). But it doesn't get the racist dog whistle done.

Personally I was rooting for Joker so whatever. Donald Trump is insane. Please don’t go making out a classic film to be Triumph of the Will because he happened to mention it.

Joker fan? Imagine my surprise. And if you think it's unusual or poorly justified to consider invocation of Gone With The Wind to be racist signaling, in the modern era, you really need to broaden your experience. Make some new friends, talk to different people.

Thank you. So it’s not just me. I am trying so hard to understand why he raised GWTW in the year of our Lord 2020. I figured I had missed something.
