until there's compelling evidence to the contrary, I'm working on the assumption that Bloomberg's presence in the race is a net positive for Bernie.

I think this is tied to the larger, ongoing issue of New York based media outlets giving prominent New Yorkers an outsized national profile. The NYT does a lot of national reporting, but at the end of the day, it's just the local paper for a city where most of us don't live.
