Agree. I personally have kept my comments about Blatchford polite. But I have no trouble with people who want to be more blunt. And, to be honest, I think Blatchford would herself prefer blunt obits to my politeness.

Here is the Blatchford memorial to Layton,
@HeerJeet. It's quite good—and quite balanced, considering how appalled she must have been at the treacly orgy of public mourning led by the media, especially the CBC. https://nationalpost.com/opinion/christie-blatchford-laytons-death-turns-into-a-thoroughly-public-spectacle … -

There is no criticism of Leyton in Blatchford’s article.

So you're illiterate. Cool.

I just read it and I am not filled with sanctimonious hatred for her. I fail to see the monumental sin.

Jeet, you need to reread the article. It doesn't say what you seem to remember it saying.

J. Kay: "Blatchford wasn't bashing Layton at all." Blatchford: Layton's letter was full of "sophistry." He was 'vaiglorious" and "canny, relentless, thoroughly ambitious fellow." This is not meant as a criticism of Blatchford. She was blunt about the dead, as was her right.
