I've assumed for months that as good as things were looking for Sanders, centrists would consolidate quickly and pull out the oppo big guns immediately after he started winning races. But if people are still telling themselves he's not actually ahead at this point.... folks...

The ending of Downfall is instructive on the how far the power of denying reality can go.

I suspect this tweet will seem incredibly ironic in five months.

Maybe -- although I never said, nor do I think, that Bernie is a sure thing. I've always said he's a longshot give the opposition he has inside the party and his own age. But I think the real blindness is in thinking he has no shot.

I don't think people are saying he has no shot. But when he and Warren get 35% combined in NH, a state they should dominate, while Buttigieg/Klobuchar/Biden get 51%, it's odd to argue that he's in a really good position, especially given proportional allocation of delegates.

If Bernie were competing under the GOP's winner-take-all rules, then the fact that he's the frontrunner by a small margin would matter a lot more. But he's not.

We were having these same discussions about Trump in the 2016 primary. People denied he was winning right up until the convention

First of all, not true. 2nd of all, Trump was running in winner-take-all primaries. Bernie is not. The math is completely different.
