Bernie desperately needs to not fall into the Corbyn trap of lefty ritualism. He doesnt have move an inch on any of his values or policies but he needs to come across as a normie, a patriotic American. Activist-speak is a filter for the well educated, not the broad working class.

No, I don't actually. What are these normie values that young people and POC lack?

We value it, but we don't insist people talk about it all the time as much as older people do.

No, you really are speaking a strawman. Human beings across race, gender, age have similar values but consume messages differently. Lots of people support Bloomberg and Pete's broad message they see on TV but do not share many policy values with the two men.
-
The main message Bloomberg has is that he's very anti-Trump (a good message for Democratic voters). The main message Pete has is he's young & smart. Those are a little different than "hope, hard work, opportunity, and service."

My grandpa had 3 jobs: farmer, well digger and moonshiner. And, he was a playboy on the side.

I took it as: agreeing with their message, but they don't actually agree with their policies.

Bernie would do well to start speaking the language of “opportunity” rather than “rights”. Let’s keep people healthy and educated so they have the opportunity to succeed in a competitive world. Whose rhetoric does that sound like more, Pete’s or Bernie’s?
