Bloomberg should be smart enough to understand this. Or have some smart people who can tell him this.

He's literally only 10 points behind Sanders in the poll, and Biden is still in the race. Once Biden goes, that gap is going to suddenly be very small.

James says that Bloomberg has "come under a lot of scrutiny." But people nationally don't know him. He did very poorly with the Black and Hispanic vote in NYC. Do you think Blacks in SC are aware that Bloomberg put into effect a Jim Crow style policing regime?

Just on your facts: Bloomberg got 50% of the black vote in 2005. And he got 40%+ of the Latino vote in both 2001 and 2009. (In 2005, he ran against Ferrer, and still got almost a third of Latino vote.) For someone not running on the Dem ticket, that was not doing "poorly."

I think the impact of Black Lives Matter on young black voters would make it hard for him to do well with them -- the wouldn't vote for Trump but could stay home (as many did in 2016).

Yep - big downside risk for Bloomberg as a candidate in the general. And not clear whether his support for gun control would be more of a loser with WWC men than it would be a winner with suburban parents.

On the flip side, while Bloomberg is anathema to conservatives and partisan Republicans he would likely to appeal to voters who are dismayed by Trump but wouldn't vote for a more liberal Democrat. There's a reason that a number of Democrats in purple districts have endorsed him

Also, there was no strong Democrat opponents in 2005. Four years later, against a strong opponent as well as amid anger over policing and his push for a third term, Bloomberg got significantly lower percentages of Black votes and won by just three percentage points.

By the way: This point I make all the time must be remembered: Black people don't trust White people and won't tell some anonymous White guy on the phone what they are doing. So don't trust poll numbers.https://twitter.com/dropoutnation/status/1226952566396850179 …

The first rule of polling Black people is don't trust what Black people say in polling. While I believe that Biden has lost his lock on Black voters, I always remind people that polls don't capture Black people well. Because Black people don't trust White people. https://twitter.com/RobGeorge/status/1226950913971150850 …
