The problem is the idea of establishing a default style for the entire country, enacted by executive order. If the underlying trouble with architecture today is we-know-best high-handedness, this could just exacerbate the issue.

I think the ultimate difference the order makes (if it is issued) will probably be pretty small. But the implicit centralization doesn't sit well with me. Local context matters.
