Totally bizarre you would even raise this. Do you honestly think it's a question, or is this a way for you to signal to your audience that I'm untrustworthy and should not be listened to?https://twitter.com/HeerJeet/status/1222565010066427904 …

Yes, so we should stop talking electability and start talking about vision, style, plans, etc.

If simply getting committed Democrats like Chait to vote for the Democratic nominee was enough, you'd be right. But that isn't enough. So you're wrong.

You really think getting Chait's vote is the challenge for any Democratic nominee? You don't think there are plenty of voters to the right of Chait that a Democrat will need to win?

@HeerJeet dude why are you even bothering to engage? This is like debating Bret Stephens on the relative merits of phrenology or trying to decide what movie to rent at Blockbuster this weekend. "Electability" as Chait is using it has gone the way of the passenger pigeon.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Chait's just being disingenuous. I agree he'd vote for EW or BS over trump -- he just SO DOESN'T WANT TO... so all his pieces right now are directed at hurting the left side of the dems with scary theories.

I think it's anything but certain at the moment that the people now speaking out so vigorously against Sanders would in fact vote for him if he were to be the nominee. It doesn't sound like it, and I have seen people here say that they will not. That's my current question.

That use of colon (:) is improper.

Your example here may have been off. Chait is not at the edge of the Democratic electorate, but much closer to the middle. Also, Obama-Trump voters are the ones being contested in the highly polarized world you describe, so it seems like they should be the relevant example.

Here is an article he wrote about Clinton in 2008. In 2016 she became the "best candidate" to beat trump.https://www.cbsnews.com/news/hillary-clinton-fratricidal-maniac/ …
