    1. The impeachment is necessary but one of the downsides is that other very important stories get crowded out. This includes a recent cluster of stories about how the Saudi regime is out of control & the Trump administration refuses to restrain it.

        2. It all goes back to the Khashoggi killing (and before that Saudi friendliness to Trump pre-election & their spending spree in Trump properties. This week there's the alleged Jeff Bezos hacking & alleged kidnap plot reported by @thedailybeast

        3. Part of my frustration with Ukrainegate is that there is a much broader critique of Trump's foreign policy to be made (perhaps in the general election): that he perverts it to personal ends. Saudi Arabia is as part of that as Ukraine/Russia.

        4. One reason Trump's been able to get away with the Saudi stuff is that USA foreign policy, going back to FDR, has been very tightly linked with House of Saud. But that's changing (as congressional Yemen vote showed). More thoughts here: https://www.thenation.com/article/saudi-arabia-scandals-impeachment/ …

It’s not getting crowded out. Trump’s foreign policy for personal gain is the common thread running through all these stories

I’d like to think that was certainly the subtext behind “trump is not trustable.” from Schiff.

I would argue the Afghanistan Papers are just as, if not more, newsworthy than our government being accomplices to Saudi crimes and oppression (which is worsening under Trump, but NOT new).

Americans now receive virtually no news that isn't our broken party and political personality politics. And even that news isn't news, it's almost entirely editorializing.

It’s not like anything would be done about that if an impeachment wasn’t happening.

1)It's all a game. This relationship is cold and calculated with obvious benefits for both U.S and Saudi Arabia (S.A). The whole international community (U.N) sits by and allows S.A to participate even after 'Human Rights Violations' have been made.
