The thing about complaints that Sanders hasn't been vetted is that they come from people (media types, rival campaigns) that are in a perfect position to vet him. If they have oppo on Sanders, why not use it now and see if it works?

Sure, and if Sanders becomes a credible front runner, you might see that. But the more important factor is the different audiences: red baiting is not per se effective in the Dem primary, but arguments about electability are.
