If this is your genuine take (that you welcome publication of oppo on Sanders), you may be surprised to learn that it is not shared by many Sanders supporters

I mean, he's been a credible top tier candidate for over four years now, through 2 campaigns. If reporters and opponents haven't researched him (and I think they have), what the hell were they doing with their time?

You already know the answer: They know he's teflon, & that they'll get swarmed by stans for their trouble. So they're holding it for after the nomination, when they can pretend it matters more (& it will help re-elect Trump).

I think they just mean ‘wait until voters find out he is a socialist’ not realizing that is the one thing everyone already knows. But the corporate media will absolutely slander him at every opportunity.

do you remember that bit in 2017 where there was a dump of old Sanders oppo which seemed to mostly consist of him on goofy Vermont public access TV

In the case of other campaigns: which would stand to benefit by red baiting? That says nothing about whether it would be a valid concern in the general. (I have no idea whether general election voters would care, but its plausible they would.)

Campaigns have been known to use cut-outs to hide their tracks.

The only attacks that could work on him are left wing attacks. He voted for Afghanistan and libya, no better oppo than that, slave markets!.....and he’s complicit!
-
Oh and the 1994 crime bill he voted for
