Arguably the ominous music only emphasizes this quality even more, like an SNL digital short

It does seem possible to read too much into this scene. Right? Except, no, fuck it -- like Bernie or not, this is a scathing indictment

And this bit is totally me. It's not exactly fun to advertise, but it hits home.

Bernie skeptic that thinks this entire NYT interview is the best thing he's done. Should have just told them that they're idiots that have capitulated to Trump and have no moral standing to question him.

It’s a perfect window into both Bernie’s popularity and his unpopularity among normie Democrats. He is an anti-social socialist in a world of highly social capitalists.
-
Socialists are anti-social? Well, a few refuse to vote for a "neoliberal" when a cruel fascist is the option. But that behavior is sociopathic, not anti-social. In my experience with co-ops, socialists are more sociable than their capitalist countrymen.

It is hilarious, and I think people (myself included!) are rightfully drawn to it as a form of anti-charisma. But think it’s worth questioning/discussing whether a woman would ever be able to advance in politics with this mindset.
-
I think it’s gendered in a way. Women are often encouraged to be extremely affirming and pleasant in social situations, and Bernie is basically allergic to having any conversations that aren’t “important”, which is a luxury many women don’t have (or want to have).
