Who are you thinking of? I can think of Vermeule, but I'm not sure that's who you have in mind. In my sense, the publication of Schmitt's diaries from the 1920s-1930s in 2015-16 - which establish his unequivocal, continued anti-Semitism - have made people much more cautious.

I've seen a lot of critiques of the unrestrained executive (on the 'forever war', drone strikes as the enacting of the exception) drawing on Schmitt and Agamben too.
