Donald Trump is an aggressively chaotic anti-sage, a myopic but overwhelming all-tactics bulldozer. Mostly. It works because he is a savant of intuiting and manipulating reputational power levels. He knows who he can't bulldoze, so he assaults their power level until he can.

Biden is scary but to Trump. But it's not just that he can peel off some non-college white support. It's the monster power level behind the source of Joe's commanding lock on black support: Barack Obama.

He's out there, just playing it cool, staying out of the brutally corrosive forces of negative partisanship. Just chilling, being America's most beloved and admired man, quietly getting Oscar nominations, leveling up. And he will sure as shit show up for his boy Joe.

NIGHTMARE! Big Don lives in mortal terror of the Godzilla Q Rating behind Obama's victory margins, innauguration crowds. And he's just hanging out being glamourous and chill ... w a i t i n g. An un-bulldozable sage. So... MUST. DESTROY. JOE. This is what strategy is, for Trump.

Empty the mafioso tactical arsenal! Open the Great Book of Ratfucking! Because once that handsome silky devil comes out of posh retirement, suits up & strides out to deliver a stemwinding power-level torch transfer to an undiminished Joe before gushing MAGA rally-shaming crowds?

Can't be allowed to happen! So Trump's terror-envy of Obama's power level, combined with Mueller-driven terror of post-term prison, drove him into panicked deployment of hapless second-string (i.e., not already indicted or imprisponed) goons to take out Joe.

You're overthinking this, I think. He saw Biden as at the top of the polls, so wanted to take down Biden (and he occasionally takes a swipe at whoever else is rising, whether Warren or Crazy Bernie.)

Maybe so. Or maybe we're myopically underthinking the depth of Trump's Obama derangement syndrome.

This isn't a swipe at an opponent. It's a vast criminal conspiracy in order to extort a foreign government. I mean, who knows what goes on in that addled brain of his or where the psychic wounds come from? But let's not compare this insanity to, like, taking shots on Twitter.

Sure, but if Warren had been leading in the polls for a year, I'm pretty confident Trump would've done the same. The Obama thing is a factor but it's also how Trump reacts to any foe.
