One thing I would enjoy about a Biden presidency is that no one but no one thinks he’s the messiah. He would just... be president. There are no Biden cultists. There are hardly even any Biden “stans.” That would be healthy.

Any Democratic would have lost in 1984, and probably 1988. Gore basically won but for various anomalies in Florida or outright legal mistakes. Kerry I suppose but even political science research there suggests Bush would win. So, there is not an impressive point.

Sure. But what about McGovern's landslide victory in 1972?

This is true... BUT, I hope we can all get extremely excited about voting Trump out of office!

François Hollande campaigned for the French presidency in 2012 with the promise that he would be ordinary, boring, technocratic, "un président normal." Did not work out particularly well...
-
"Normal, All Too Normal" would be a great title for his memoirs

But those candidates weren’t running against trump. These are different times. Also, I’m not sure Biden qualifies as a technocratic master.

Biden is definitely not a master. Normal intelligence, middle of the road wisdom. I'm taking a second look at the governors.
