I’ve sort of been assuming he was positioning himself for a contested convention if Biden fades. Get enough delegates to be relevant and hope the party prefers him over Warren and Sanders.

I've heard that a lot of his ads are mostly anti-Trump. If so, it would fit theory that he's working within campaign finance law to run a massive anti-Trump effort. I hope that's true.

That’s what I think is going on. He doesn’t want to hurt the nominee, very much wants to hurt Trump. So this is a great way to go after a Trump when the others can’t and just see if the stars align later.
