A lot of people are mad at this @jonathanchait column but I read it as a pretty compelling argument in favor of Bernie Sanders. http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/12/tulsi-gabbard-impeachment-trump-russia-2020-election.html …

By all means, let’s give the nomination to the American Corbyn. Worked out splendidly for Labour. But hey, they stayed pure! All that matters.
-
Corbyn: historically, uniquely, unpopular; Sanders: highest favorables of any US politician. Labour voters: divided between brexiters and remainers; Dem voters: united and highly motivated to defeat t-Rump. But otherwise completely the same.

My problem with this formulation is that I think Bernie would be a poorly performing president who would achieve very little of the liberal things I want to see happen.
-
Why is that? If it’s because of enough of congress being GOP, you just have to look at the Obama presidency to see how a
#centrist will perform. May as well go for the whole prize, rather than start negotiations already capitulating to them. - Show replies

What do you call the entire DNC strategy, i.e. "Vote for whatever disingenuous, social sop-tossing corporate shill we throw at you or get the GOP horror show"?

"Because Bernie lost and his supporters refused to back his competition, the logical conclusion is to join his supporters" is not actually logic, Jeet.
