There is a good argument that modern imperial racist argument for conquest & genocide was born in the Tudor & Stuart conquest of Ireland in 16th & 17th centuries. Tropes & memes invented in Ireland were applied to Indigenous peoples of America, Africa, & India.

Actually, the tropes went the other direction. During the 19th century, English cartoonists showed Irish as apes. See Curtis's book, Apes and Angels: Irishman in Victorian Caricature.

Me: lol, racist nonsense. Also me: Wait, which one am I? Blue-eyed and pretty charming in person I guess but otherwise I physically fit the squat "survivor of an early period in human history" pretty well and I don't think my stubborn ass has ever been described as "pliant". Hmm

I'm sure Mr. Jeet is writing a piece on his own ppl as we speak. The Irish could write a piece on his people, also colonised but unlike the Irish no longer still occupied. I'm sure that would be taken with the utmost of grace🙄. I'm sure he's not passing ignorance as comedy🤔
