A side funny thing is that a more canny political movement would allow, say, Collins to vote against Trump. But there’s a zero percent chance he would be able to restrain himself from giving her a nasty nickname.

The whole point of the impeachment is electoral: to expose as many facts about Trump as possible, and then force the GOP, especially the Senate, to take a definitive stand on his exposed corruption; and hence give the electorate as much clarity as possible.

This has all been clear from the beginning. There is no chance of a GOP held Senate convicting Trump on impeachment.
