One thing Corbyn and Clinton supporters share is a certain amount of political geography denialism. The idea that if the overall vote share doesn’t drastically fall then it doesn’t impugn the candidate, as if the battleground over which the election is fought is not already known

The thing is Johnson was running ON Brexit. Corbyn couldn’t have run any farther to the pro-Brexit side than Johnson so his only play really was to be just slightly less pro-Brexit in the hope of picking up old Tory seats and not alienating pro-Brexit Labour voters. Didn’t work.
