2. The military -- quite properly! -- can't make a political case against Trump. So military resistance to his normalizing of war crimes has focused on rules and procedures. But that hardly does justice to the problem.

And for the guys ordering drone operators to bomb weddings (or thos drone operators themselves) there has never been any question of punishment. Individual murders are ghastly crimes. Mass murder is just US foreign policy.

This is correct. There’s not enough attention being paid to the fact that the pardons have nothing to do with Trump’s faux love of the troops and everything to do with the ethnicity of the victims of these particular war crimes.
