I wasn't expecting "The Irishman" to so closely parallel the recent Don Cherry kerfuffle.pic.twitter.com/jfIEKDE9D5

Let's put this to the people. What do we think of Pacino as Jimmy Hoffa?
On the question of Pacino's performance, I now think this is the right analysis: it's integral to the plot that Hoffa (loud, explicit, public) carries himself differently than the mafia guys (sneaky, cunning, quiet, elliptical in their dialogue).https://twitter.com/thickthickpaint/status/1199904104266420224 …
To put it another way, The Irishman is about a gang of method actors, one of whom (Pacino) starts to revert to an older form of histrionic, theatrical performing. So the gang has to kill him.
That's Hoffa, though, right? Something of a larger-than-life figure?
Hoffa was a drama queen. Pacino nailed it.
When not?
Can you name a non-histrionic Pacino performance? I’m not saying that’s necessarily a bad thing. I AM saying it IS a thing.
Godfather I and II
The one question I have is why didn’t they use the book title for the movie as well. I Heard You Paint Houses sounds great.
The real Jimmy Hoffa was pretty darn histrionic. My main concern was that Pacino doesn't look or talk or move much like Hoffa.
The character Pacino portrays is interesting and layered in its own right, but I didn't walk away feeling like he'd nailed the historical Hoffa.
