Yes I would agree. Although I should mention in both cases that the slogans are disturbingly unclear.

If someone said "it's ok to be a slave", I think I'd use context to distinguish between whether they were justifying slavery, or trying to reassure slaves that it is not due to personal wrongdoing that they are slaves. In the same way that I use context to interpret things now.

Sure, but if you agree that "it's not okay to be a slave" isn't an attack on the enslaved, ask yourself why you so adamantly insist "it's not okay to be white" is an attack on the people categorized that way.

Because I have never seen it bundled anywhere alongside the claim that people conventionally thought to be white are not white, or shouldn't be white.

In the slavery case, I'd look to see if the statement is bundled with a call for slavery abolition, or not. If you're just enslaving people and then criticizing the enslaved for their state of affairs, that doesn't make it better.

I think you're very clearly reading and in fact are insistent on additional malicious motives that are not found in the initial tweet. That explains in my opinion, your reaction.

Here's the tweet she was replying to. It's not a statement of white supremacy. It's in fact a criticism of the self-hatred that another white person has of herself. The tweet I quoted was criticizing that. Do you still think I'm reading in too much?pic.twitter.com/jsDkfzsWkb

Do you think people who get ancestry results in Europe should be sad and disappointed that they are boring and vanilla, and should long to have asian ancestry? That seems to me to be psychologically unhealthy, and racist in multiple directions at once.

I'm not really sure you know what whiteness is, which is a part of the problem here.

I'm opposed to taking a convoluted ivory tower definition of whiteness and then applying it to conversational situations as a justification for racial bias.

I'm opposed to you being ignorant of history.

I haven't said anything ignorant of history, and I've clarified to you repeatedly that what I'm saying has more to do with semantic interpretation, and is consistent with history. At this point you're insisting on willfully misinterpreting me.

No, he's correct again. I'm going to pull out here though. I think this is too heated anyway. I don't think this is one of those things where either sides true points will get through to the other.
