Nevermind that colonizing space (or the moon, Mars, etc) won't succeed without a viable biosphere on Earth, from which they can obtain supplies that they won't be able to manufacture or harvest wherever they are. Sure, there are fantasies to the contrary, but they're just that.

Yes this! Making habitable places on other worlds is important. ~Keeping~ the currently habitable parts of Earth habitable is way more important and way easier.
