Ehhhhh as a Kentuckian- Bevin’s own Lieutenant Governor campaigned against him- this election had very little to do with Trump and a LOT to do with the organizing power of teacher unions

Sure, Bevin was hugely unpopular, much more than Trump in Kentucky. But Trump could've stayed out of it for that reason. Instead he (as in speech above) staked claim in election. So it shows some of the limits of Trump's popularity even in red state.

I don't think anyone who is serious thinks Trump will lose Kentucky -- the point more is that there are limits to how much enthusiasm & turnout he can generate even where he's most popular.
