Al Capone served time for tax evasion and generously donated turkeys to poor people every Thanksgiving, so the system works.https://twitter.com/baseballcrank/status/1188110633595822086 …

Milken, who did two years in prison and has been a prolific donor & fundraiser for cancer charities since then, is not really a great illustration of that point. https://twitter.com/HeerJeet/status/1188109732516696067 …

Milken is not a "prolific donor & fundraiser for cancer charities", plural; he's specifically focused on prostate cancer, which as a rich white man he will almost inevitably be diagnosed with. He's not exactly out there targeting neglected tropical diseases.

In a wonderful coincidence, he *was* diagnosed with it right around the time that became the focus of his philanthropy.

The Trump Foundation also spent funds on the legal bills of a turkey and purchasing paintings of a turkey! What a small world we live in.

Milken successfully used the charitable giving to rehabilitate his image, and then what did he do? He returned to the greed of crony capitalism. Of course.

Yes, if Capone hadn't been responsible for the murder of hundreds of people and hadn't built a criminal organization that continued to wreak havoc after he was long gone, your inane analogy would make sense.

It’s okay to be a tough-on-crime conservative, with no chance at forgiveness or redemption, if you were a rich guy—very progressive.
